Morphology
Physical Description
45 to 50 cm long (17 to 20 inches), with wingspan of 102-112 cm.
Fulmars occur in two different color phases. With gray wings and a white head and a white tail rimmed in gray, light-phase fulmars look very gull-like. Dark-phase birds have more uniformly gray plumage. The bill is thick, yellow, and hooked, with tubes encasing the nostrils. There is no sexual dimorphism.
